VX220 Engine light on when I bought the car....

I bought the car 2 months ago with the engine light on. I was told that this was due to the Full Larini exhaust system/lambda sensor and it was nothing to worry about. I am not worried as seller was a nice guy/VX enthusiast who just hadnt got round to re-setting it & the car is running like a dream! It would, however, be nice to know:

A) That he wasnt bull shi**ing and it is an easy fix.

B) Where can I get it done in SW London (Coulsdon/Croydon/Sutton)

You can buy a cheap code reader from ebay for _£25 that will read and reset the code for you (or a cracked version of opcom from China to use on a laptop)

From the sound of it it's probably the po420 code wich means the cat isn't performing as well as it should but considering you have a full exhaust system. im guessing you'l have a 200cell sports cat instead of a 400cell standard. the sports cats tend to throw a code every now and then and it's isn't a problem at all its just flowing more exhaust gasses then the ecu i used to :wink:

I guess it's the post cat sensor, the only fix would be to fit an O2sim to mimic the sensor dunno..

O2sim will still switch the eml off, thats what it's designed for 😃
