so i presume that ite not the chin itself.so you could just mod it by changing the oil feed?

False economy IMO Paul. If you've got everything stripped down it's a no brainer to change out the chain kit. Bear in mind age and mileage of your engine and as you've said, it's driven hard.

it does in that when vauxhall started fitting the modified oil feeds they put the notches on the tensioner to identify the engines with the modified parts,in your case it could be that someone in the past fitted a mis match of parts,easily done.but there are no guarantees and i would bank on fitting a new chain kit anyway to be safe.
oh and i used to work for a vauxhall parts dept and i sold quite a few of the chain kits

Brothers 2.2 16v is on 149k and still on the original chain.Mines just hit 103k on the original chain.Safe to say we keep and eye on them at all times.

the modified cam chain oil feed was fitted from engine number 11065400 as from march 2002
