Matt I removed the front wheel the other day when doing the oil change, and I noticed that there wasn't any copper grease on the nuts or the hubs. Bought some spray on grease today from B&Q, and none of the bolts had previously had grease applied. Massive difference having it applied again.
BURT150 Id go carefull using normal grease on wheel bolts matt thats the last thing you want coming lose. Iv never been a fan of greasy nuts! :silent:
BURT150 MikeS said: yeh u bollocked me for it Yea i did  I put copper slip an the back of the wheel where it touches the hub now and again but iv never done bolts or nuts.
Daz I never copper slip my nuts,,,only the mating surface of the wheel's/hubs.... Had a bollocking many moons ago for doin wheel nuts/stud with the stuff...and never have since....
dodger same here Matt, never had a loose bolt yet due to using copper ease, i also use copper ease on the wheel hub makes them easier when removing them
Daz When i was a wee lad......around 17....and doin my time.....my boss went ape on me... and ive never done it since.... it prob wont hurt in all honesty as when the nuts are tight they aint coming off, .. but thats just one of the things that stuck in my mind ...
blue_se2 don't do mine either but it's up to you Matt never know a problem with or without greased nuts TBH.
Matt vocky said: I don't grease my nuts either  ps: my 13000th post :silent: You are catching me up!
ATOM_X I greased my wheel bolts and asked my brother to tighten them he is a bit of a gorilla he asked how tight? I said tighten until you can go no further he stripped two threads at the head end I had to get them pulled using rotating hydraulic tool (bloody expensive operation) I DONT OVER LUBRICATE WHEEL FASTENERS ANY MORE but I ACCURATELY TORQUE THEM
Matt ATOM X said: Matt said: I don't have a torque rench 🙁 trade in the copper slip for a wrench Would be nice, but there is a slight price difference between a torque rench and the copper slip. 🙂
