exhaust gas temperature sensor

on my new car the MIL bulb is inactive however 2 codes are stored and active !

first code was p0031 which was front 02 sensor that has been replaced and code cleared down
p0546 which is exhaust gas temp sensor that is showing minus 4000c -[open circuit - high resistance 🙂]

i cant get the fecking EGT sensor out and i am physically moving the engine when tugging on the bolt [size 17]

just wondered if anyone has done the same trick with the scoobys by putting in a 2.2k ohm resistor in place as the sensor is only 2 wire ?

otherwise the car is in good nick 😛

ps can u change the bulbs on the instrument panel concerning vectra c / signum ? cos i used opcom and every other bulb is working

btw love the opcom read out for the turbo boost - shows u the map concerning different gears

Bulbs in the Vectra/Signum are the SMD ones, and can be changed individually.

well i changed egt with no difference

chucked a resistor in the sensor connection and no difference

got 5v coming through from ecu so looks like ecu and or wiring fault

car is going back 2morrow

tell em to sort eml light whilst at it

Ah thats sh*t mike. i hope they cough up and get it fixed.

Do you think that might be why they were selling it cheeper than the other one you sore before?

well i just gone through my tis again and it is basically saying reset ecu before replacing ecu and cos i have not got the ecu code and i cant do it in op-com so it is a trip down a dealer

the value for the sensor is not a positive value thus pointing towards ecu according to tis

it is also drinking petrol - something like £35 for 150 miles - the car runs really well imo

so i am dropping car off 2morrow and gonna be mr nice guy - if i dont get what i want then cos he is a dealer he aint got a leg to stand on - he has to advertise and sell the car giving an accurate description and saying it is in good condition when the mil bulb is missing and 2 fault codes are active is not what i call accurate

The instrument binnacle can come out very easily and all you need to do is pass a small voltage through the SMD to see if its working properly. What year is the car and is it an SRi, as in are your clocks the same as mine? £40 gives me about 180 miles around town and the NET is a little more thirsty.

i got a feeling this car has been mapped cos since i replaced the 02 sensor the car is pulling very very well

and the map with the z20net it has the option of ignoring DTC

the value the sensor is giving is the same value as if the sensor is not there according to later z20net without exhaust gas sensor

yeh this is a new car but i have yet to publicise properly to the forum lol

if it s gonna piss me off constantly then i just sell it on as i am confident it books for more based on condition

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 30 mins as the C's seam to log loads of codes and the light never comes on. I believe it takes so many constant faults starts to pop the light on. 25 all clear starts also clears and codes.

the eml light is not coming on at all - ignition on and the orange eml - mil - emissions symbol is not there

using opcom i can do symbol tests and they all appear but when i force the mil light to come using opcom nothing happens - the only fecking bulb to be dead as well

do i think the ecu is fecked then no - cos i have cleared other codes down and the ecu is responding to all my gear

apparently there is an ecu reset function on this ecu and u need a tech 2 to do it - unplugging battery wont do this

as for codes you wouldn't believe the amount of codes were stored on each module

the only joy i have had out of this car is watching my missus getting soaked by the window washers when i activated em via opcom 😛

Bottom right had corner, just had a look at mine. I'd just have it straight back to the dealer, VX seam to use any trick in the book to get out of anything nowadays, even to the point where they will send a warranty covered cars ECU to TMS to see if its been mapped and void the warranty.

took car out for spin last night after unplugging battery for 45 mins to allow ecu to relearn new lambda

did 40 mpg at 70 mph on motorway last night after initial learning phase of 35 miles

i covered 72 miles using a tad over 8.2 litres 🙂 at 70 mph
