Anyone experience a lack of power sometimes?

I have owned my Vectra 2.2 SRI for 2 months now and i recently diagnosed a broken flexi section on the exhaust, I had a new one welded in on Monday last week and I'm happy to say that my car is now quieter and pulls better than when I first brought it. However I noticed today and on another occasion that the car doensnt seem to pull as hard or be as much fun to drive like theres a slight lack of power, and the clutch seems heavier...Obviously engine power can be affected by air tempreture and humidity e.t.c but has anyone else ever experienced a problem like this? Is the clutch anything to worry about? The car has covered 50K. Thanks Guys

When you had the flexi done did you ask for the Pre-Cat to be removed? Did they check to make sure the precat had not broken up and may have partially blocked the cat?

No I didn't as I was constarined for time and money, however they didnt actually remove the down pipe, they just put it on the ramps and cut and welded the flexi in, so could this have affected it? Are they prone to breaking up after a certain mileage, and how would you diagnose that?

Could it be anything else like a faulty sensor? A service? Blocked injector? Thanks

Well it could be other things too but there are a lot of topics on here about loss of power and most people find out its the precat either blocking or partially blocking the cat. Have you noticed any rattles etc with the car? When was the last service etc

No nothing unusuall tbh, car seems like it doenst appreciate being reved as much maybe... or that could just be me...the last service was with the last and only owner at 49K so its covered around 4k since? I was intending on changing the oil and plugs at the end of the month

I would check and remove the precat anyway, even if its not this at least you can eliminate it and gain a few bhp at the same time! Then maybe get a diagnostics test done too

Thats what I was thinking, then at least I know it cant cause any further problems in th future, have you done this mod yourself? Is it noticable and does it affect fuel economy? Thanks

Yes i have done this and it gives about 5bhp gain. also if its not there it cant break up and block the cat! Well worth doing id say!

Hey Guys,

thanks for your advice a while back, although I am back on here hunting around for possible solutions to my problem again,
I had no problems with that car for a while, and 3 weeks ago I changed my spark plugs and brought a panel filter, and the car was running the best it ever has done.

But yet again it has started intermittently loosing power again and now its permanent...however only as the driver can you feel the lack of power - especially low down.

Strange thing is the car starts perfect, doesn't hunt, smoke or make any funny noises...I have been advised that I might be a faulty ignition coil pack/module?

Any suggestions, Thanks guys
