egr to inlet maniflod pipe removal??

Hi to all..

I blanked my egr valve off having removed it, also thanks to Vocky for the cheat, which was promptly posted.. All working fine. Now i need to know what do i do with the hard pipe ??? ive read on blanking the hole at the inlet manifold, what about the egr end? can i just bin it, do i need to block it off at egr end as well?

The EGR end it doesnt matter you can leave that m8 as it wont have any use anymore with the blanking plate on. Im 99% sure as I will be doing mine soon but thats what I believe :think:

Your right. if its blanked off where the egr used to be there will be no need to blank the hole in the head :thumbup:

There is a few threads on how to blank off the hole in the inlet manifold. do a search.

It'l cost about 12p :lol:

Superb.... Thanks for your answers fellas, Also the annoying heat shields for exhausts, I drilled a few 2p's and used them as washers to hold the shields tight to my cars underside, cost is about £0.30p 😃

I found the same problem the other day with my heat sheild above the back box. i didn't repair it tho just ripped it out. if any heat transfers through its only going to go in the boot.

i think my blanking plate was quite expensive 2x10p and some gasket! ooooh im a big spender!

Does it really make any difference if removed and the hole plugged? also at the same time as filling the hole, (so to speak) is it worth cleaning the manifold whilst its off? My car seems to be over fueling on hot/warm starting, i use Forte fuel system cleaner, is there a poss fault with coolant temp sensor? its intermittant this problem, has anyone had this same problem?

You can get a normal socket onto the oil filter lid with the egr pipe removed!
The head end on mine is just blanked with a bit of carlsberg can, just because it looks neater. Its much easier to block the inlet manifold with a vw thermostat blank than arseing around with coins and sealer, no chance of anything getting sucked into the engine either.
