BURNING OIL

hi my car seems to be burning oil..

first let me start by saying it burns oil every few weeks i have to put loads of oil into it. and when i put my foot down and rev it high it smokes loads. and all the time when i put my foot down the car pulls back and slugs around and jerks then eventualy pulls away i hope its nowt majer as i am not the monoply man 🙁

It's hard to tell what it is. i had similar problems with burning stupid amounts of oil so in the end i re built it and your right its not cheep.

Could be ring's or valve guides and or stem seals.

Also could be EGR stuck open and smoking and a bad oil leak from water pump power steering pump or any ware else.

It's difficult to tell.

yet to see one than doesnt leak water or oil

It's funny how many threads there are on "burning exesive oil" there is no easy answer to it.

Every old z22se must be burning oil badly now. there is probably only a few lucky ones.

I think it was you that found my water pump leaking :thumbup:

sorrry for interupting but ive been searching this oil burning prob for solutions, at first my head was split and causing car to miss so i found cheapy with bent valves and broken guides after i rebuilt and put back together i get same problems as you. car hesitates through revs but then power is back and when you throttle it hard smokes like hell and quite embarrissing, got rings to change on the weekend so hopefully this will help. anyone know how i should run the rings in as i get different answers everywhere i go.
have you noticed any other problems? i get smoking around tight roundabouts and severe smoking when i throttle after going down hill. ive rebuilt top end and renewed head gasket so i can only point to rings.

The burning oil problem is not a mager problem at the moment it the lack of power when I put my foot down you have to put the throttle peddle down slowly in order for it to not stutter and judder and pull back I have chaned the fuel filter and have been told it could be the coil pack

have you looked to see if there is any water around top of spark plugs, thats what happened when my head had split causing number 4 plug to short out it drove fine on cold but as scoon as car had warmed up would pressurise water and cause leak. the car was still driveable when i drove it slow but as soon as i put my foot down it would jerk about

Cheers Karl for the advice I'll check the plugs when I get home but the car does not waste water the water level has never droped I just hope it's nowt mager.. Eventualy I am going to open her up for more bhp but want to resolve these problems first thanks every one for the advice please keep them coming
