Hi there this is my first post in this forum so go easy on me! lol.
I have a Vectra 2.2 SRI 2001. The car had died about 2 and a bit years ago in London at my mums house and stayed in the garage till now. I got it to Devon but as I got there the car ran like a 50cc moped! Here are the problems :
Drives bad at 3000 RPM it loses power and blows blue smoke from engine bay somewhere the EM light is on too.
What I have done so far:
Removed the EGR valve is was had lots of black soot and was like ceased. I managed to free it with carb cleaner and moves ok now (havent fitted it back yet) I probaby get a EGR cheater I think sounds like its a better and cheaper fix.
Removed the rocker cover as there was oil getting to the one spark plug and the gasket did look a bit dodgy so I need to get new gaskets and refit it.
Removed the throttle body its was filthy!! It had black soot on one side on the other it had oily grease gunky stuff on it so i have cleaned that (not refitted)
I had noticed that inside the inlet manifold was more oily grease gunky stuff and what looked like a puddle of oil inside. I presume this is why its running so bad. Is the inlet manifold easy to remove? What could be causing it to be so oily??
Also I have noticed that the CAT has come away from the downpipe how would this affect the car?
Sorry for the lengthy post, i'm a noobie mechanic but I always willing to try to save money if nothing else! lol
Thanks :buffer
