Vauxhall Service Costs

My MOT needs to be done and to keep my engine in tip top condition i might aswell get it serviced too.
I went to Tustain Motors (Vauxhall) and i was told the interim service would cost £115.

Im sure it used to be £90 from Vx.
Ideally id rather service the car myself but i dont have the know how..... yet!! 😃

Anyone any suggestions? notsure.gif

thats cheap im across the road
in cumbria an its £129 for a full service and £149 for service an mot at vx
and i though that was good deal for a maindealer
at that price id get them to do it

What will they be doing for the service? Just an oil and filter change?

For a full service you cant far wrong for £129 but mines the interim service which is £110
Vx gave me the same price for the MOT and service as you. So at least i know im not getting totally ripped off.

And Matt yes i think it is just that unfortunately, it does seem pricey for some oil, filter and oil disposal.

If it's just an oil change, follow the guide on here Daz did and save yourself some money (unless you want a VX stamp in your service book notsure.gif )

Cheers Matt, i'll phone them up and find out if that's all they'll be doing. If so i'll follow the guide and save money.

If i do it myself is the standard recommended oil good enough or would you recmmend a better oil?

I'd also buy the oil from them, as you can get a discount by being a member on here (unless you can get trade at VX)

its a full service oil + filter fuel filter, air filter + sparkplugs
only one they dont change is the pollen filter.
on any vx over 4 yrs old :thumbup:

just got 20 litres of 10/40 genuine vxhall oil for £39 with trade discount and buy 3 get one free

Right, had me car MOT'd and thankfully it passed 1st time around. 😃 Also had the interim service aswell.
But in order for the emissions test for the fast engine speed check, the oil had to be topped up by 2 litres. They've seen more oil in a Ryvita biscuit. :problem:
I check my oil every 2 weeks and i've got no oil leaks anywhere, and the dipstick has always shown a line of oil but the bottom of it had not been fully coated, something i should have picked up on earlier :oops:

Consequently you've guessed it THE TIMING CHAIN is now rattling. OMFG! £874.85 the damage.

Heres the part where you guide me to the timing chain section and also where i speak to my bank manager.

Mines the 03 Model which features the revised timing chain with the supposed uprated tensioner and oil jet's. This is supposed to cure the timing chain snapping issue permanently :shifty:
I put this down to the fact that the engine has been running dry for a month so this was preventable.

117k though is not bad tbh.
