Whats a good diesel?

Whats a good diesel car? I am not bothered what make it is but it must be good for it's looks and decent power. Price range up £4000. It's for my mothers boyfriend :roll: . I was thinking along the lines of...

2.0 Diesel Astra Mk4 (115 Bhp I think)
2.2 Vectra B Sri Diesel (150 bhp I think)

Just seeing as I like Vauxhalls 😛 . He will look at other models also. Cheers for any info 8)

Vw golf tdi or any vw diesel,got so much torque and drive well..

The golf is a bit too much for him I think, are those the Gti models? What other VW diesels are good for under £4000? Cheers mate

u can just get a plain tdi mark,90hp up to 150 for the td gti..any of the newer diesels are a good car tbh..

my dad had a passat TDi with 130 bhp and it was pretty quick for a diesel.

I had a 52 plate 2.0DTi Astra SXi it was pretty swift and looked the part being an SXi. Had about 102 Bhp I think. Really liked that car :wink:

My wife has the 2.0dti mk4 astra estate on an 03 plate. Pulls really well, mid range torque is really good. Discs all round, so stops really well too. I love driving it, it is so much fun, it surprises a lot of people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mondeo TDCI 130bhp Zetec-S, 130BHP, 330LB torque. Can get them chipped for £300, takes it t 160bhp and 365lb, and then remapped for £500, takes it to 190bhpish and around 400lb torque. Lol

My uncle has a 2.0 tdi astra on a 02 plate, and it's a lovely car to drive, pulls really nice mid range, and goes for miles and miles on a tank of diesel.
