Error 00021 and 00031 - How to fix them?

Hi there folks,

I have two error in my cooling section and i have no idea how to fix them, can you take a look:

00031 - External Series Resistor, Circuit Open
Present

00021 - Pushing Blower Motor, Malfunction
Present

For 00021 i suppose this is the front fan, but what exactly might cause this error i have no clue.
Any help will be appreciated.

does the heater blower work ?

Yes it does, this is the problem.
Both fans are working and i am really confused.
With all the modifications which i have is it normal my car to run at approximately 95-97 degrees?

The STAT opens at 82 (it is the Coartney's) that's why i am really shocked.
I have no lights on the dash, only those 2 errors.
We've tried some fan test with Opel Scanner and it should run 4 speeds, mine ran only 1, the very first one.
Any idea?

yeh resistor or knackered fan

symptoms of faulty resistor is only one speed setting

give the fan directly 12 volts and see if it is the same speed as the resistor if not replace resistor - if the same investigate wiring & fan

I've already checked for resistor, but unfortunately is a pack with the fan (i have the fan with 3 pins).
So i have to change the whole fan with the resistor.
I had an idea to try with second hand fat just to test it to be sure.

only other thing u can do is check for resistance on the wiring before you change the fan over

Yes, to check the resistance was my first thing. If there is an issue with the installation no signal should go to the pusher blower motor which shall point me to a faulty wire, but this is not the case the fan is running, but only at one speed. We've also inspected the Cooling module, no issues there as well, all power lines are working.
I've also tested my blower motor on another Coupe and all 4 speeds were there ( this totally knocked me down).
Do you this that still might be the resistor of the blower motor?

X63: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 20; X64: 1, 3, 6

both codes relate to same circuit

more concerned your telltale light aint on [ eml]

What else controls that?
Tomorrow i shall have another blowing motor with resistor and shall check it with it, and hope everything to be fine.
What does this means?

What is your advise how to connect extra fan on the AC radiator?

it is the pins on the connector and coolant ecu

i could give you the this stuff for it but it would take me an hour to copy and paste it from tis 2000

i also have autodata as well but the ac / heater blower is dealer stuff only

I suppose that on X63 are the speeds of the fan, what are the rest X64 corresponding for?
I have Autodata 2000, but not able to find that.

first check fuse f8 is working

x64 is for the radiator fan
x63 is hooked up to your ABS unit ?

this is way over my head m8

i would however look at the resistance between x64 plug pin 3&5 concerning your rad fan resistor

x64 pins 1,46,20,2, are for your heater fan

I am checking the Autodata - Wiring Diagram, but not able to find anything suspicious.
I've checked the fused (No8 should be inside the pit, below the steering wheel - right? What actually this fuse controls?).

By any chance can you give me an advise how to connect a second fan next to the AC fan, which i can turn on with an external switch?

yeh get some cable that you use for powering amplifier with a built in fuse holder

run new cable from battery to fan [put suitable fuse in] 12v
run another cable to dashboard where switch is earth
wire in to one pin of switch
wire other pin on switch to earth

thus you create circuit

on ford ka's they have no fan switch , it is built in the ecu and it uses the coolant temp sensor to switch fan on and the wiring is shite and water leaks through bulkhead into wiring and relays

what i seen people do is wire the fan directly off a 12v sensor connector to keep fan on constantly [dodgy]

what i suggest you do is create your own circuit away from ecu and engine loom - so if fuse pops then big deal

I will do so.
My plan is to install the button on the dashboard. To use the middle pin of the switched wired and to go to the fuse holder and to use 10 or 20A fuse and from there to go to the + of the fan. And for the - i can use any whole which is in front of the chase, what do you think?
The fan to be mounted next to the AC fan and to air flow to be to the radiator.

just splice into existing earth wire for cigarette lighter
any decent switch should illumination pin so run it off another dial oki 🙂

I still have those errors. I've replaced the front fan and no luck, still the same.
Any suggestions?
