nice site you have, just been browsing the forums, and a wealth of knowledge,, which brings me nicely onto a small problem which im hoping you can help me with,
firstly the history.
The car is a 2001 vectra b sri just done 90k
I had the recall on the timming chain done around 2004/05. after this was done i noticed it had stated to use oil, about 1.5 lts every 6 month, so wasnt to worried,
and then The check oil level light notice started appearing more often, especially after a good thrashing. but i lived with it, after all the car had started getting older.
no smoke from the exhaust at any time
March 2010. no check messages displayed, oil ran very low. (not showing on the dip) my oil filter decided to turn brittle, and a small flake of it when up an oil way and blocked the oil getting to the head, Tappets ran dry was making lots of noise, (bit like an old talbot)
Had the head rebuilt, all was fine for about a week, and had to put 1lt of oil in.
the following week, another 1ltr
no signs of smoke, but i have now noticed a leak towards the back of the lump..
Any ideas???
Also i just read about blanking the EGR valve off, mine has failed again and this one has only been in the car 6 months, Where would i get the blank off kit
