tuning engine?

Well after problems with my engine ive gone a brought a 2nd hand bottom end and gear box (only done 50k)

But what i really want to do is tune my engine so its as close as poss to 200bhp, what im i best doing to this bottom end to make sure its capable of this obvioulsy uprated pistons etc, im going to get a lightened flywheel from courtneys and a sports clutch, anythig else ill need to do before i get another head to start on??

Also i will be getting the uprated manifold and also a 2.4 inlet and a sports exhaust system
(want to acheive 200bhp without a t/c or s/c )

U dont need change pistons and clutch to acheive 200bhp 🙂

cheers dude ill have a look would it be best just to use uprated rings then ? is std clutch ok to take 200bhp?

Leave the rings & the clutch alone they can both take 200bhp

Ok well im taking the bottom end to a machine shop to have new rings fitted so at the same time im going to get uprated rods and pistons and bearings just incase i fancy going for more power least it would already be done ill leave the clutch for now then cheers :thumbup:

or just stupid ill have to have a think because eventually i was looking into a s/c but i want to acheive over 200bhp n/a as not keen on t/c or s/c just good old power. Hmm might spend my money on getting the head done and a few other bits instead. sounds like a plan :thumbup:

cheers and very good advise ill just try and make 200bhp or as close to using the mods in pm cheers again and hopefully see you at a rolling road day :thumbup:

update : forged pistons and rods ordered from us £320 including postage ( std bore) including uprated rings, 2.5" sports back cat system ordered with middle through pipe. next up is piper cams, balancer shaft delete, head ported and polished and an inlet manifold.
one quick question though is the dbilas inlet needed or does the 2.4l inlet from courtneys do the same job? i just dont want to waste alot of extra cash if it is not needed or do other companys sell similar products, i think the dblas is very pricey in comparison to others like courtney etc

you get a seperate map with the dbilas manifold if i am not mistaken

also i am wanting to port and polish my head is this something i can do my self and if so what tools will i be needing

search through vockys posts, he has written plenty of head modifications

Dbilas inlet manifold rocks! (ive got one)
its not worth £1200 what regal want for it, so buy one 2nd hand (like i did)

cool im trying to acheive 200hp currently working on the internals first i.e balancer shafts, port head and stage 2 cams etc ill get all externals once engine is fitted i.e exhaust and inlet manifold and remap maybe even a stand alone ecu, but i certainly aint paying the £1200 regal want for the inlet no chance, hoping a 2nd hand one comes available or even an alternitive.
