Just a little thread to say thanks to Matt and the site for coming up with this.
This was a quick job and the results are great for the money and time. I recommend anyone with a failing or failed egr to do this mod asap!
This is what you want rid of.
Collected the blanking pate form my local Vaux dealer
Part no. 24575592 (EGR Cover)
They will prob have a hard time finding it but will locate it under the Astra on the EPC.
Matt’s EGR cheater can be purchased from the shop section.
Once you have the parts the fun can begin.
Unplugged the egr and plugged in the cheater (bottom set of holes) Secured it with some electrical tape (will come up with a more permant solution later)
Then I removed the two bolts holding the egr on. Not as easy as it sounds as there is not much space in this area (not sure if this is the same for other models with the z22se) once off EGR can be disposed of, keep the Gasket and clean it up. This is reused when you bolt your new blanking plate on.
Once nice and tight you can get the op-com out and plug it in. Clear the codes (I also rest the o2 learning thing) and you are done.
Better idle and mine has better manners in slow moving traffic now, I’m well chuffed.
