davey8974 i have a 2001 vectra sri 150 2.2 petrol which was running badly,so i done a comprssion test on it.1 2 and 4 where all the same but 3 had no compression .can any one advise me what is wrong.it also throws out a lot of blue smoke when i floor it.it is ok when you drive it normal.please could anybody help me.
jaywanley have you done a wet test on the cylinder with no compression? put a tea spoon of engine oil in to that cylinder and do compression test again if it improves itll be rings and or bore in that cylinder no good if doesnt improve all that much if at all it lies with the head or gasket dude

jaywanley not really a certain pressure but from what i know the least amount of different between the dry test and wet test the better if say its 0 compression and it raises significantly b very good chance its the rings as the oil seals the ring, did you make sure you disconnected the fuel line and depressurised first as this can give a false reading
vocky most likely the valves are not sealing, whip the head off and have a look possibly a couple of bent valves ?
MikeS you should be getting some compression to be zero that has to be something fundamentally wrong and you would struggle to even get the car started let alone drive

jaywanley if its smoking badly and compression is low on that cylinder it just may be the rings do wet test and go from there, as above though should still have some compression so could well be a couple of bent valves be able to tell by taking inlet off and looking at valves through there
jaywanley do wet test and go from there mate if all the others are 15 bar just wet test no 3 cylinder
