Sluggish Vectra 2.2 z22se

Hi guys, just lately my vectra is getting REALLY sluggish accelerating, in any gear.

Dont know if im just getting bored of the car, its never seemed that quick anyway, but now even in 1st and 2nd gear it seems to have no pull effect.

Its recently had new oil pump & both chain sets replaced ( about a month ago ) and new oil etc.

Is there anything with the z22se that can really buggar up performance when it goes wrong? and if so is there anyway to test it?

coolant temp sensor, lambda mixture sensor, air inlet temp sensor - all can make the car sluggish if faulty

Thanks, but surely if any of those were faulty the engine management would pick it up and give me a light?

Are the MAfs common to go on the Z22SE's at all do you know?

If there was a crack in the flex, which ive seen is common (although i can't hear anything on mine) would this cause really bad performance?

I've got the same issue had my chain replaced in Feb and was brilliant for a while but now has deteriated in performance.

I'm thinking maybe fuel filter as I get slight delay when accelerating but could be alot of things notsure.gif so I'm going to take it to local vaux garage first see what they think and get a diagnostics.

Cleaned the throttle body again yesturday and today it seems to not be as bad especially at low speed doesn't make the car judder as if it might stall but still not great performance.

I was thinking it was me but 2.2 should be quite shiffty and after borrowing a mondeo at work it is on take up.

Does anyone recomend redex or simular product and do they work ?

No pre cat on a Vec C mate, it has a Manicat.

hoe do u check the egr ive took it off before but couldnt see anything wrong?

Not sure if its the same as mine (Vectra B) but at the bottom of the EGR valve you can see 2 holes one as a valve sticking out. Use a screwdriver and gently nudge it if don't move chances are its ceased. Might be worth spraying carb cleaner or wd40 and see if it frees it up.

Or pass 12v through posts A and E. The plunger is hidden at rest and will pop out with voltage. A lad on Vec C had the same problem after he passed Carb cleaner through the induction, I think he must of dislodged loads of crap and it blocked up the inlet. After a good Italian tune everything sorted itself out.

Dragon, the SE's are exactly the same in the Vec C to all the others except we run a MAF and the power steering isn't run off the cam.

Can someone just advise on blanking off the egr does the valve push open something to let the exhaust gasses through and blanking this off stop's this doing it when the car is warm?

Or vice versa but wouln't this let the muck still get in the manifold?

Or do you blank the EGR pipe to manifold off aswell to combat this?

Just thought I'd do this as it's a cheap mod that will proberbly need doing sometime anyway.

The EGR is a valve, at rest no exhaust gas is let into the manifold, at certain engine loads the valve opens and lets exhaust gasses into the combustion cycle. You can blank the EGR with just the VX blanking plate, but the EGR still has to be plugged into the loom and still has to be working properly. If however the EGR is ferked then you need to take it totally out of the system, for that you need the blanking plate and also one of Vockys little box of tricks which at the last time I looked came to £10 so £14 to sort the whole problem out which is a massive saving over replacing the EGR.

This is mine just blanked.

Note how the EGR is swung over the side so the plunger is still able to freely move.

Took it to the stealers and got two fault codes one was relating to throttle body so I'm going to get a ported one and stick a catch tank on.

Does anyone know if the inlet manifold has it's own gasket like the throttle body as there's a puddle of oil in there that can't be doing any good?

The second fault was oil pressure switch malfunction is this easy to replace?

I got a Vauxhall vectra sri 2.2 petrol.

Im having a problem with starting the vehicle. I have just changed the timing chain kit. Because the chain had skipped a tooth not by much but it still would start but tern off. So I thought id change the timing chain I changed the chain kit which came with chain tensioner, chain lubrication nozzle ect.

I lined crankshaft and camshaft pulleys and put every thing together and tried to start the engine but it wont start I checked everything over again it all lines up.

Can anyone suggest any ideas.
