Yes it was a bit of an ouch! The whole thing must have only lasted a few seconds but it felt like ages. I was chasing another Super Six down the A28 towards Canturbury, I pulled out to overtake and a combination of the cats eye and the camber in the road was enough to put an inch wide, six inch long whole in my Raceline sump 🙁 I heard the bang, looked in the mirror and it was orange. I couldn't work it out and then I felt the heat on my neck (it singed hairs!). I remember thinking that when I stop I might have a problem, but it blew itself out fortunately. Two things struck me about it:
- Even with a fire extinguisher within arms reach, trust me you just unbolt your harness and run!
- The irony that I had a helmet on all morning (no windscreen) and I took it off because we were taking it easy after breakfast on Deal Pier!
The good news is it looks like there is no engine damage and I'm having a bit of extra paintwork done.
No reason a Z22 won't fit in a 7. The redtop is used all the time. I've searched Locost Builders and can't find anyone running a Z, so it would nice to be the first. Initially I'll run it on Weber 45s, a megajolt ECU, Ford EDIS and coil pack. I'll match it to a Ford Type 9 box. It's got to fit here!
