Z22YH EGR Blanking plate Info

Hi everyone,

I noted the part number for th above engine for the blanking plate : 55562899 Catalogue No: 851144.

Now when this is fitted, what happens to the 2 holes left in the inlet manifold. Do these all come in a kit?

Also, can you leave the EGR secured in the engine bay, or must I get a ECU download with latest software, which in turn ignores the EGR.

Just gone through this with a guy on another forum. Unlike the SE he wasn't able to hang the EGR off the side as the blanking plate is domed. So instead we blanked it with a home made coke can plate sandwiched in between the head and where the pipe to the manifold bolts too it. Its been done a week now with no lights and no running problems so it looks like it works the same as the SE.

#1 is the pipe from head to manifold.

This pic is of an SE but the hole is in the same place as the YH, and you don't have to remove the manifold like in the pic, its just to show you where the hole is.

This is the YH manifold, #1 is the pipe your going to block off where it bolts to the head.

Sambor is the guy from Vec-C who has just done his Z22YH. First off I think he just used the blanking plate but coolant kept getting into the manifold so I believe he used the coke can gasket method above and all's been fine.

Just to add, if the EGR is goosed then this wont solve the problem, this just stops the zorst gasses entering the manifold. For that you would need a new EGR, have it Tech 2'd out at the dealer or take a chance and buy an EGR cheater from this forums shop and see if it works on the YH the same as the SE. It only costs a £10 so not much lost if it doesnt, but cheaper than a new EGR or a £50 trip to the dealer.

No the EGR is fine( that I know of), I just want to prevent issues in the future, it's only done 24k

No worries, anytime. I blanked mine in preparation for a different manifold. Since having mine blanked the inside of the manifold has cleaned itself up loads, there used to be thick sludge inside, now there's only a tiny bit of moisture from the cam breather. I would have thought this mod on the directs swirl flap manifold would be very beneficial.
