VXR Recaro Seat Restoration

I really enjoyed doing it. Was really the first time I've been able to do something on a car that wasn't outside, and didn't have a reason to rush. Because I'm on nights this week, I stayed up last night, so removed the seat as soon as I got home from work yesterday evening (was on 12 hour days yesterday) and waited for the wife to go to bed before making a start on the seat.

So part two is now under way.

I've found a dye so that I can fill in the scuffs in on the bolsters:

They have the Vectra VXR listed as being Dark Grey
Vectra VXR 2008 dk/grey [XXOP]

So just ordered a pot.

Royal Mail tried to deliver the stuff today while I was at work. Got to wait 72 hours before trying to fetch it from the sorting office!

Picked the kit up this morning, and made a start

The dye is still a little lighter than I'd like, so I'm going to darken it up some more, and give another going over tomorrow to try and blend it in some more.

Thats a good job. It takes your eye off it so chances are you'l know its there but no one else will ever notice them :wink:

I've driven to work tonight, and it's settled down a bit now, and it's looking better. Quite pleased with it, given the kit was only £14.

I've got a couple of scruffs like that on my seat. I did wonder about touching it in with black shoe polish??

The colour of the Recaro is a really dark grey, so black would have stuck out like a sore thumb. For £14, I'm happy with the results.

I'll take a batter picture without a harsh flash to show how it looks in natural light.

Certainly looks better now Matt. I should have explained myself a little better in my last post. My interior is black, would black shoe polish be okay to use on mine?

It's it's black John, I'd spend the £14 and get one of these kits in black. Don't know how well shoe polish would hold up on a car seat. I know I'd not use it on my sofa at home.
