2001 2.2 sri Drinking oil

Hey guys, i got a 2001 2.2 sri a month ago, i changed the oil and filter, (just under 5 litres in it) 2 weeks ago and since then the wife has covered 1200 miles.

She phoned me today to tell me the check oil light was on. So when i got home i checked it to find no oil. It does smoke a little when pushed hard and she travels up and down the country in it on the motorway but she aint heavy footed.

Anyone any ideas, and if so, how much its gonna take to fix it.

i would put your hand down behind the water pump and check for leaks there as well bell housing, sump & crank seal

these engines are prone to leak with high miles

try 10w40 oil, because it's slightly thicker it usually doesn't consume so much

Thanks guys....engine seems dry enough.

And funny you mention the thicker oil.....by mistake, in my rush to get oil in her, i picked up th 10/40w semi synth, at the shop......so..done that...lol
