bad cat ????

ive just fitted a new catalytic convertor the other day it hasnt been started up until today as i was waiting for a new o2 sensor to arrive. Ontop of the convertor was a big sticky label which i forgot to remove, this heated up and set on fire when i started it up. i9m currently just letting it cool down so i can remove it. my concern is my back box seems to be blowing ive checked every where and theres no leaks at all and also since this label burnt the cat stinks of goneoff eggs which i presume is the cat.
the nerw cat is very small compared to the old cat even though it is the right part number etc

i dont know what could be the problem as its a new cat engine seems to be running fine dunno..

Wish i knew this place existed 3 months ago! never mind. Is the flexi bit as shown in the picture? The Vx flexi is just below the manifold connection on the astra.

yes mate the cat i received is exactly the same as in pic, i think ive fixed it now i let it cool tool cat off and removed every trace of labeling and its fine back box still slightly blowing and smells of fuel but egg smell has gone find out tomoz when goes for mot see if its just back box hopefully be alryt

I seem to remember new cats do smell a bit when new for a few days esp when you boot it lol. I remember changing the cat on my old calibra and that did smell for a few days after.

They will smell for abit because its still got all the chemicals etc in the cat so will need to get burnt off but should be ok after a couple of good runs
