johny6 HELP can anyone tell me please iv fitted new timing chain to z22se not got that special tool to lock cams. i line up marks as by haynes book turn engine over by hand and marks dont line up no more notsure.gif .whats going on :o
wanna_veccy it wont line up no longer after u rotate it,try and rotate the engine so that it does 16 full rotations, for some reason my chain came back round on the marks.
nate when you turn the engine over, the marks dont line up agin until the chain has gone round a lot of times (cant remember how many, someone mentioned a number in the hundreds, dont quote me on that thou)

Matt well thats because of the gearing of the sprockets! it will line back up but after a number of rotations!

jaywanley ignore the timing marks mate once its been timed up you only rotate to check its nice and tight and doesnt slip, i thought the same when i did mine, as long as it turned ok with no slippling its fine. I cant remember how many rotations it takes to line up but i got told 100 odd roations so dont worry
ATOM_X If you use a locking timing tool you can rotate twice and then line up bottom timing points and if correct locking pins will relocate If you use other methods there is no tangible way to carry out a second functional check you are relying of good faith I PREFER THE TIMING TOOL FOR CHECKING
