Inlet manifold fitted.

I got my manifold fitted today on a bit of a trial run before i do more mods to my engine.

All went well i took me about 20 mins to get the old one off 2 hours tinkering with pipework to fit the new one then about 4 hours relocating the ecu :roll:

Heres a few pics.

Seems fine i took it for a good run about 30 mile and no EML's and drives good.

Still not happy with the wiring tho as i soldered alot of it and its a bit messy still. Im glad of the astra engine cover its amazing what it covers up :lol:

Deffinatly different tho, it seems slower but you dont seem to feel the power as much until you get closer to the redline, it doesn't pull hard but is smoother through the revrange. IDK dunno.. Still not sure about it as yet but might be a bit of a bonus when the other mods go on :wink:

Yea it was deffinatly worth it. It would of been worth it just for the experience of desighning and making one.

It's difficult to guage if it has increased the power but im sure a few more back road blasts will make my mind up :lol:

And also the RR day will tell all.

Bit of a problem today as my dodgy wiring rubbed through a cable for the injectors on a bracket 🙁 . managed to get it home and then put a joiner in and made a better effort of making sure the loom doesn't rub anyware.

Only problem im having and it may be something of nothing but it sound like its slightly missing dunno..

I had to extend the injector cables so iv unwraped them and checked every conection.

But then on the other hand it might be that im not used to the sound the new manifold makes its a bit like a very subtle scooby 8)

Has anyone else when using a similar style/dilburt manifold like mine experienced a change in noise? more noticable with you foot down?

is there enough conduit from the origional loom to cover it all up ,its pretty hardy stuff.
are you could be suffering from any noise from the wiring?
did you have to extend any wiring from crank sensors etc?

It's exactly like moving from a cast exhaust manifold to a tubular one : it filters a lot less valvetrain noises
A change of noise is perfectly normal

Thanks for that. That puts my mind at rest.

It sounds good but because its different its hard to know what it should sound like.

Well the manifold is off at the mo. Because im not used to the sound it makes i had to make sure all my wiring and the other bits i changed weren't causing it to run funny so i swoped it back and everything is fine so thats encouraging.

Was hoping you'd have it on for the RR day as i'll hopefully have my 4-2-1 exhaust made up by then and it will be good to see where the gains are as a comparrison.
