Engine ticking

I don't know if it's anything important but the VX has developed a slight ticking/tappety noise. It's only noticeable when cruising along, especially when it's not under load. Sounds a bit like a sewing machine type noise for all the house husbands out there. Can't seem to hear anything when outside the car and it's idling, It's been barely noticeable for a while but seems to be slightly more so over the last few weeks.

I've removed the cam cover and the chain appears to be in perfect condition and no obvious signs of slackness. I do wonder if it is anything major as it wouldn't be noticeable except for the fact I have no rear window so the engine is right behind my ears, if it was under a bonnet or behind the window you wouldn't hear it.

Is it worth worrying about or just forget about it?

mines ticking at mo was doing my head in as had just changed the comp cams back to standard and was worried it was something i had done.but in the end found that the noise was comeing from the purge valve could hear it more at idle tho ot sure if thats normal or not just a thought tho cheers..

This is how mine sounds at the min, not rattle, more of a repetitive tap like a clock or sewing machine... Did you ever solve this?

check the rear manifold my vec b had this tick/taping and i traced it down to that 🙁
