power sounder?

once the battery has failed on the power sounder will that cause the car fail to start?
for the last couple of weeks there has been a beeping when the ignition has been turned off, reading the posts on here i assumed it was the power sounder and i would have to change the unit, but today i went to start the car and nothing, i jumped the car using leads and the battery is showing 14 odd volts while ticking over so i know its not the alternaltor? (i think thats what it means), also when driving the windows are slow to operate, also if it is the power sounder where can i get one from other than vauxhall, thanks

the power sounder has nothing to do with the car starting or not starting as the case maybe.

The alternator is fine if it's reading 14 volts that means it;s charging the main car battery.

Your problem does sound like you main car battery is not holding charge, get it changed.

The power sounder maybe ok once you have a new car battery so change that first before thinking about the power sounder

thanks for the reply, i will have to get a main battery , when i was putting the power sounder back on it sounded until i took it off again, is there something i have to do before reconnecting it?

put the keys in the ignition and turn the key to position 2, the power sounder should only beep once as you connect. Use the same proceedure when disconnecting too

is it possible for the power sounder to cause a massive drain on the main battery? i have removed the power sounder thinking that the batteries were dead, i then jumped the car with leads and everything is back to normal, or at least seems that way, i jumped the car yesterday, let it run for about 5 min, checked that the battery was receiving a charge and it was, turned off the ignition, then this morning the car started first time, very weird! the only other thing i need to do is change the brake light switch as that seems faulty, only working some of the time, but thats easy, just waiting to get the part

sort sure that the power sounder would cause that amount of current drain, best get your main battery checked or monitor the situation over the next couple of days. If ok put the power sounder back it.

turned out tht the main battery wasnt holding its charge, also the power sounder batteries had leaked so all that was dealt with, than the alternater has packed in, bought an alternator from a member on here, just waiting for it to arrive
