stem seal replacement

Hi There

I am having to do my stem seals, however, I came accross this http://www.pvrdirect.co.uk/productinfo.aspx?catref=VS160 whilst looking for a spring compresser for the valves, it says that it enables you to change the stem seals without taking the head off..

Does it work? There's nothing wrong with the head gasket so this and a chain should fix it?

It is handy not to take the head off but if it was me then id want to take head off to check there too. But if you already done the gasket etc then yeah i suppose its a handy tool. Not seen one in action thou, so have to ask what other think too.

I saw it and thought i'd ask... may still take the head off. have a how to on reseating the valves so not worries too much now

If it was me id take the head off. thats not to say you should do that because it is entirely up to you.

The main good thing about having the head off is that you can check everything and know you have a healthy engine internaly :thumbup:

And you can clean the carbon off your valves from the oil the stem seals have been letting past.

Head off it is then, after holiday, jobs a big one and i may be asking advice.....

the tool is for OHV
ours is an OHC
there is no way to get the legs underneath the springs NO SIDE CLEARANCE
SO IT WILL NOT WORK ON OUR HEAD
