Hi Guys, couple of questions.
I got a new engine fitted May 2009 as the old one was filled with the wrong oil at kwit fit and the big end went....... couldn't prove this as they claim I could have put the oil in so hey ho bought a new engine and was installed in Glasgow by a higher recommended motor engineer. (old engine looked likey you have turned on your over, thrown in some oil and left for a month..... nasty)
Anyway, The new engine runs like a dream having only 38K on it at the time, now 45k -- I have the eml on at the moment which imo is making a difference to the "smoothness" of the driving and the mpg. Its relating to the lamba sensor and when the motor engineer checked the sensor he said its fine and there might be a short somewhere, or might be the wrong code du to a fault, regardless of this replacing wouldn't solve (as we used a new sensor from the old car etc) When the ecu is reset the longest I have driven without it coming back on is a few hours or 90 miles. For the record a brand new exhaust from cat to back box was fitted at the time of the car being fixed.
I'm going to do the pre-cat mod and also bought and EGR cheater today from here and a blanking plate on ebay.
I'm a newbie but want to try this myself, and am good with my hands so
1> what tools do I need and where do I get them for the above and general maintenance? (sprocket set etc)
2> Could the mods I am talking about doing improve the cars performace?
3> could the eml problem be solved by doing the mods?
