hi lads
it's time for make the decision as I realy have to decide what to do next
visit boys in Courtenay or fit the standalone ecu ? notsure.gif

question is - is there a ecu which will cooperate with our TB
or get wire TB and then standalone ecu notsure.gif

going to boys to Courtenay would be the best option
but when I will compare all costs its nearly the same(including fuel,ferry etc) as getting ecu and map it here notsure.gif
I know ,they remaped Johnny's on standard ecu and thats great but here ( ireland) nobody wont do it on OE ecu

so what option lads?
wire TB and what S-A ecu ?

you could of course just get the courtenay base map installed on your ecu, simply post the ecu to them dunno..

courtenay can put a base supercharger map onto any z22se ecu, several european sc owners have done that :thumbup:

thats all you need to do, usually takes about three days from posting to getting it back :thumbup:

give them a ring before you post the ecu to discuss what map you want

Last time I asked Allan (DTA Director) about it (a month ago) he said the software was done ages ago,
I have just asked again and they have just come to an agreement with their hardware makers for a price on the PCBs
so it shouldn't be much longer.

ETB's are a piece of piss to do, if in doubt shut the throttle 🙂

odds on he gets robbed for the hardware 🙁

I've seen some DTA DBW prototype controllers fitted maybe 2 years ago now (they were standalone controllers fitted in a S40-like plastic casing). There are indeed a few ones that runs sinces ages.

Only think I am not sure is how they will handle with different TBs (will they give access to the PID regulation ?), and if they will upgrade their traction control to work with the DBW instead of just ignition retard/cut notsure.gif

throttle based TC is sooo slow and agricultural though.. Cutting fuel/spark is the 'fastest' way to back out power while retaining capability to put the power back in 'instantly' when traction is regained.

Although you could use it as a last ditch attempt if the fuel/ign cut dont achieve much.

and he says they can map it but its better to be present with the car
So maybe I will ask them to de base map for now and when I will have a chance to go there
then do the full renap?
or should I go for wire TB and DTA then? won't be the problem with wire TB in Vectra lads?

DBW TBs can be a lot faster than you think and many supercar OEM TC are throttle based
spark/fuel cut is a 80's stuff, not progressive and not controllable enough
ignition retard is not that simple especially on boosted cars (due to EGT's).

Most OE programs now use ingition retard has a first step like a torque reduction when the detected slip is low, then switch to DBW for higher slip. It's a 3D map with the slip and the EGT's.
Any ETB will easily close to its idle state (= not 100% fully closed) in around 15 to 20 ms

its well easy,
all you need to do is find one that had an older c**xe engine veccy or similar on ebay something around an r plate,
copy the number plate and order the cable and pedal from your local parts place.
then just unclip the wiring and swap the origional pedal. the cable hole should have just been filled in with a solid grommit.
you will have to do some reading on how to get the throttle position sensor to work,
or just get a aftermarket tb and use a ford tps :thumbup:

so basically, geting WTB plus pedal setup and for example any stanalone ecu(DTA etc)
and rewire everything plus fitting temp sensor in inlet manifold 😃
then wideband plus EGT and someone who's got ideas how to make maps corectly

has x20xev any good lads? or better from c..xe ?

maps are a tricky thing to get hold of.
there is plenty of online manuals etc
its not too difficult to generate your own just to get it mobile and to a rolling road,
or you and a mate can grnerate the rough tables sort the idles out etc, then do some road tuning with a laptop (it makes you shit your pants a bit and we didnt have the guts to go to far), but it was more than enough to get it somewhere and get it checked over.
best leaving the 4000rpm+ for the rolling road
n/a will be easier than forced induction. :thumbup:
just be aware you can muller an awfull lot of time and money if you cock it up!

oh and on the suitability of the c20xe map im not sure as they maye generate peak torque and peak bhp in different areas of the map notsure.gif
