The F23 is a 5-speed manual transmission manufactured by Getrag. It is designed for transverse engine applications and can handle up to 155 ftÂ·lbf (210 NÂ·m) of torque.

General Motors uses the F23 in two versions: the M86 and MG3.

I think I got that pic from a US site. They also use the same box as us in our 2.2 🙂

There's also a M94 version of the F23 produced from 2000-2002, but I don't think it was ever used outside the USA, it had a different bellhousing pattern.

is that all the torque it can handle?????? not much scope for tuning then! lol is there a stronger gearbox available that could handle more?

that torque figure must be wrong as the 2.2dti uses the f23 gearbox and that has 200 ft.lbf,also the same box is also fitted to the 2.0 turbo and that has a lot of torque

Im led to beleive that the number denotes the amount of torque i.e. f23=230 ft lbs???

I think itÂ´s metric units and it will take 230 Nm not 230 ft lbs
Z22SE has 203 Nm of torque.
