just signed up as a member but have always used this site to get me out of trouble,
My problem is my interior light has stopped working in my Astra mk4 it’s the light with the 4 501 side light bulbs in it 2 which are map reading lights it also has 2 alarm sensors,
I replaced the bulbs fuse and the light 3 different lights from breakers yard and even the light control unit (headlamp switch dimmer control unit) cables are
Grey
Black
Blue/brown
Green/brown
Blue/black
Red/blue
Brown
Red
The red cable is live as is a grey cable when the car is off no key and when the key is in and the engine on the red and grey are live as is the black one, when I tested the other day brown was earth, opening any off the doors doesn’t affect anything either nor dose pulling the switch out to turn the interior light on.
I have heard it could be the multi timer located in the fuse board have one ready to replace if it is or it could be the central locking control unit in drivers foot well as the same colour wires are in there as in the light its self again have a replacement same numbers printed on the front,
The reason im asking before i replace these items is because i have heard the central locking unit must be reprogrammed by vx is this true and any ideas what the hell it could be otherwise as no interior light is annoying after a month.
Thanks nathan sorry for the long post
