burning music cd's

Right guys i have just burnt a few music cd's to play in the car, i have just played one of them to find its skipping a bit on various tracks. I have played the same track off my hard drive and there is no skipping so i'm assuming its down to the burning but why is it happening?

I'm using a "backup" copy of nero if that makes a difference.

that wno't make any difference that it's a "backup" copy, as thats what I use as well.

What speed do you burn the CD's at? What CD writer drive are you using? What discs are you burning to?

ok i just bought some philips discs that were on offer in PC world. The last one i burnt at 16 speed and i'm using a philips dvd writer to burn them.

what is the maximum burn speed of the drive? I normally find that burning at half the maximum speed gives good results.

I burn at a slow speed approx 12x no real problems

i burn at full speed usually with no probs,try the burnt disc in ure house stereo and see how it plays,could be the laser in the car not liking the discs..

Sounds to me like this may be a disc issue i have had a few that my HU just didnt like.

Try Imation / Memorex i have always found these to work fine.

Same here. When you get a set of discs that work just stick with them. The ones with a darker dye on the bottom seem to work better. Just dont buy the cheapest of the cheap or you will be binning as quick as you burn....

Oh you not putting the cd labels on the disc are you? that will defo make the disc jump.

You could always buy an inverter and run ur pc in the car through your speaker? www.stupid-idea.com

I find that the discs which use Ri-Tek dye are the best, I use this dye for CD's and DVD's which I buy, and less than 1% actually go wrong

well i burnt 3 discs last night using windows media player and they play fine, no skipping at all using the same philips discs as the other day.

Will try burning another one later using nero again and see what happens.

i had the same prob with cheap dvd-rs some would write some wouldnt but found that writing them at 2.4x they burnt fine takes a while to write one 8gb disc but wasnt a waste 😃
