Water where it shouldn't be

Hi
Ive recently purschased a 2.2 coupe se1, however there is a fairly major problem with the engine. The right hand plug well fills with water when the spark plug is tightened up.
Has anyone seen problems like this before??

Could it be that the previous owner had overtightened the sparkplug?

yes mate i would say u have got a cracked head due to over tightening spark plugs.

replacement cylinder head is required

Right, here's where I stand at the moment...

Recieved a reconditioned head from ATOMX, got it fitted and got the car back tonight.

When I bought the car there was a slight misfire, i put it down to the water being in the plug well but the misfire is still present(no longer any water in the plug well im pleased to say!).

Any ideas on what could be causing the problem??

Difficult to say as the head is OK I would suggest coilpack and/or plugs
when you did the refit you did remember to fit earth strap between head and coilpack correctly

I'll check when I get home, if not il give a set of plugs a go, then try a coil pack

Sounds like coil pack as mine did the same I replaced mine and sorted it out fine

So...coil pack arrived and I fitted it about 5 minutes later, and so far problem solved!!!

Has it in for MOT last Friday, went straight through with I wasn't expecting as it's been stood for 6 months, been running her all week 300 miles so far and no problems to report.

Just one more thing, the milage doesn't light up on the dashboard.

Is it possible to change the bulb? and is is difficult to do??

I believe there is a small bulb behind the mileage display, but you need to remove the dash clocks to replace it :crazy:
