Hi guys, as you may know i picked up a vectra b 2.2 last saturday, since i bought it there has been a clicking noise when i turn....i put this down to the indicator stalk as it would not self cancel when turning left.
Today at 2 mph i went to turn left and the steering clicked but then the wheel momentarily jammed, i quickly braked turned the wheel right and then it turned left again. when i got it home i stripped the housing of the column. ....and turned the wheel a few times. the clicking seems to come from a ring that goes all the way around the column and is the 1st thing behind the wheel. it has 4 plastic retaining clips on it which i undid and the ring pulled forward about 10mm.
Now loose and not in its proper position it no longer clicks and the wheel feels free to turn. took it for a spin and all seems fine allthough the indicators no longer self cancel.
Can anyone tell me what this ring is and if they know what the problem is and how to fix it.
