inlet rockers broke

brought 51 plate sri estate , unfortunatly the inlet rockers have broke which i knew about, ive got some coming thanks to atom ,

just wondering what issues will i may expect with the chain , as will i be able to get away with just setting TDC & the cams in the right postion , then giving couple of turns by hand then with the key & see what happens or will there be issues with the tensioner

well got the rockers & put it together , turned by hand & chain slipped , so think no now how they broke , also found balancer chain well slack / stretched , so had a look at the lubricater & that was seized / not very smooth in operating

so have phoned local motor factors & have quoted @ 450 , for chains , full service parts & head gasket kit .

could i have any other probs , mind u not took head off yet so unhsure of condtion of valves / piston ,

In response to your original question when all timed up you can turn the crank without the tensioner in if that was your question, has snapped or slipped? first thing is you need to take the head and check for piston and valve damage. even if it has just slipped by one tooth it can course damage but this needs be checked. Also if it has coursed damage and valves have hit pistons your rings can be damaged as can the head. usually (in my case) rings can be damaged, valves, valve guides and valve seals and as you know your self the rockers. if were you id take head off and assess damage ( if any i might add) you might be lucky ) but is defo worth checking or all the time and effort buting it back ryt would be or nothing. im finishing mine off today after having an engine rebuild and if isnt that difficult tbh.
take ya head , assess damage and then go rom there :thumbup:

I expect you will have some bent exhaust valves and possibly cracked valve guides (but not always)

yep thats it 16 bent valves so off to look round the classfied section now
