front pipe on sri150 vec b.

Just been problem solving the vectra (2001 (B) sri 150) I put a new gasket (ring) on the new backbox and then found that there was still a blow from the front. It has new (Walker) middle box so thought it may be the gasket between front and back.

to my annoyance it was the front pipe, I took it off (thought i may as well do the precat whilst it's off) and it has cracked around the weld! someone has drilled the precat and gone too thin.

I'm hoping that a friend who works on land rovers and the sorts can either weld it or make me a new pipe and flexi to cat and use the original cat.

other than that any ideas?

I think whatever way you do it it'l need welding.

Another cheep option would be to wrap some 1.5mm steel sheet around the pre cat pipe then weld it underneath the flange and roung all the edges. Or buy a short bit of pipe the same diamiter and weld that in.

Cut it out and weld new section in, pretty common practice. Worst case, buy a new type approved cat and down pipe for around £165
