Pre-Cat removal

I've had my SRi 150 since Jan and this is my first post. thumbup Hi all.

I wanted a bit more power so I've been reading all the posts on the pre-cat removal, three pipe mod etc...

So I decided to remove the pre-cat, started at 1pm and at 1:30pm found that it wasn't there.

Had a look in the cars history and May last year it had new cat fitted, (flexi blowing).

Anyway while I was under there, fixed rear heatshield which was only held up by two nuts.

It my birthday tomorrow and my girlfriend is buying me a GSi front bumper. When I get it painted, i'll post the pics.

aftermarket cats don't come with the precat fitted as i found out 😃.

oh and nice choice with the gsi bumper, you getting an original one or fibre glass?

Getting an original one, had fibre glass bits before and they never fit properly.

I'll do the pipe mod when bumper off.

Which panel filter should I get???

I managed to do the 3 pipe mod without taking the bumper off although if you are changing the bumper it will be easier to do while its off. i have fitted a k&n panel filter to mine.

just a thought but if you are gonna have the bumper off why not rip out all the standard air pipes and put in a couple of your own cold air feeds, could have one going to the lower grill and another to the upper grill, would be much better.

the gsi bumoer makes so much difference to the look of the car,wudnt be without mine now..

Welcome to the club mate. Get yourself a K&N Panel Filter. Stay away from Induction kits.

Are all cats the same fitment? I know where theres an aftermarket cat of a 1.8 with very little miles on it

1.8 cats sit at the front and are totally different to 2.2`s

Seriously, I had the Courtenay CS4 Package for the 2.2 16v. This consists of a Modified Cylinder Head, Pre-Cat Removal, 200 Cell Sports Cat, Airbox Mods and a remap. I've also got a LongLife Custom Stainless Steel exhaust system.

I'm going back up in 2 weeks time for the CS5 which will be the Schrick Cam Shafts with double valve springs. I also have a Courtenay Cool Stat too.

The CS4 package was just over 2k and the cams are going to be about £1600. I'm hoping to get somewhere near 190bhp.

Thats a shit load of cash johnny. TOOOOO much for me.

I'll go for a new exhaust later, and that will be about it, engine wise.
