Need new exhaust - Recomendations plz...

Hi all

Just after some advice as I need to get a new exhaust for my Astra coupe. The old exhaust has rotted away and I have been quote by Vx £1056 for a complete exhaust inc cat (PARTS ONLY!). I had a quote from Elite for £650 for a complete system inc 200cpi cat FITTED! Common sense tells me what to go for lol.

What size pipe should i go for bearing in mind I have more engine mods to do. Ive got a 2.4 inlet to fit and am going to get a cam kit too!

I already have airbox mod with panel filter and exhaust manifold. I know im modding asre about tit but my hand has been forced this time. I would of liked to get inlet then engine done first then exhaust.

Any comments is appreciated! Cheers

a 2.25" system for under 180bhp and a 2.5" system after that dunno..

No that Vx quote was just for STANDARD parts! Irmscher back boxes etc are extra.

OMG! :? you can get a cat back system from scorpion for 300ish on ebay! (best fitting aftermarket exhaust ive ever slapped on too!)

Sorry I should of said the Vx price does include the cat. trouble is the flexi joint and the cat are the same section and that was the biggest chunk at just over £750!

I have just taken my full Stainless system off as I'm selling the coupe in need of a bigger car. If your intrested in a second hand exhaust system custom built by blueflame exhausts, in great condition, including a very nicley crafted downpipe and HJS 200cell sports cat worth £370 alone then let me know. I also have a dbilas 4-1 manifold that I was going to sell as part of the package, but I see you already have a manifold.

This was the cat before it was welded in to a custom made downpipe with a large diameter, high heat tolerant flexi, and nc machined manifold flange that ensured a good port match with the manifold: -

This photo shows how the exhaust is constructed so that the tailpipe swan necks down slightly in order that the backbox sits nice and high up and out of sight. Theres nowt worse that seeing the silencer scrapping along the ground like so many other of the shelf so called expesive systems. I think the tailpipe fits perfectly int he bumper recess too.

I think £375 is a fair price for the full system from the manifold back, considering the cost of the hight quality cat thats leagues better than the dredfull rubish you find on E-bay.

I would just like to say thanks to Lightning Coupe for the fantastic exhaust! Well worth the trip to pick it up. Fitted it this morning and it sounds impressive!!!
