Thermostat housing?

Hi All

Finally found the water leak, its directly under the egr valve, looks like a thermostat housing, but just wanted to check before i take it off.

Hopefully just gasket as not overheating, hope i's not a pipe.

can anyone tell me if that is where the thermostat is located?

if it is leaking I suggest changing thermostat as new seal comes with it

Fantastic, thanks, thats made my day. It's been that hot the past few days i have seen no water until today, but loosing lots!

it's just a rubber seal, so make sure the surfaces are clean when you refit the new seal/ thermostat :thumbup:

It looks a pain to get to, is it as hard as it looks?

EGR valve off and undo some of the wiring around it then udo the bolts

Do i need the full housing or just a stat? Vx have quoted £42.89 for a thermostat as they only sell them with the housing!

I can get stat & rubber seal from Motor factors for £9

Personally I would stay away from cheap stats from motor factors - they have a habit of breaking in no time at all. The stat from Vx should cost around £39ish so you are close on price... Buy it, fit it and forget it 🙂

Have ordered the gasket set (both gaskets) from Vx, going to leave the old stat in as it works fine

Hopefully the housing will be ok when i take it off. Will know tonight
