Just brought my 52 sri vectra C about 4wks ago, after my older one got wrote off, on the way home i noticed it was ticking over really badly and the next day it sounded like a bag of old spanners :thumbdown:, It was the timing chain, has I started to strip it, I noticed that a couple of the timing cover bolts where lose, anyway i carried on, marked all up and removed the chain etc:, then i found the problem, the balance shaft tensioner had fell to bits, so replaced everything with new, now the engine is a lot quieter but still idling rough, Hunts about 1500 revs, flat spot around 2000revs on over run after cruising around 3-3500 revs I have replaced the plugs for OEM no change, EGR valve seems to be seized closed (If it goes in and out and not screws in and out), but does this work on idle??, I have sprayed brake cleaner all round the intake manifold and aux's no change in revs, sprayed down intake and the engine evened out for about 2 secs, Unplugged CTS still the same, Pre Lamba sensor voltage seems to be jumping around between 0.2-0.7volts, post lamba sensor stays at 0.8-0.9 volts, po300 flagged up twice when shes cold, i take it that if the cam timing is out by a tooth the engine will meet.
