I would say that might be repairable as it looks like the bumper/bonnet took most of the shock. It definately looks worse than it is!
Did it deploy the airbags? Does the car still run?
If the insurance company writes it of you can still argue that you want it repaired! They dont like doing that but if you give them no other option they have to repair! Its normally 60% of the cars value to repair, anything over they write off just purely to save money!
I had some idiot take the first exit from the right hand lane at a roundabout (effectively driving across my path but I was in the way). The damage to my car was well over 2k maybe even 3k. I had to have a new drivers door, rear quarter panel, 2 tone pearescent paint job etc. This was at low speed. Its all repaired now and looks as good as new!
I say unless its done serious damage to the chassis and/or impact bars then tell them you want it repaired!
