exhaust heat shield

would this cause any problems do you think if i removed it?? i.e heat build up in the immediate area?? ie local hoses etc.
with the 4-1 it would look better but i wouldnt want to damage anything just for looks as it is obviously there for a reason :think:

I would be interested in this answer because i have a 4-1 manifold and couldnt get the heat shield back on. The only pipe that comes within 1 inch (about 1 inch away) is the coolant pipe to/from the cabin heater matrix.

My theory is that if you have a stainless system and/or just removed your precat, then the manifold would not get excessively hot. I think i read somewhere the coolant hoses can withstand temperatures upto about 300 deg.c. (dont quote me on this).

I lagged the manifold on my old vectra to help keep under bonnet temps down

Mine has been removed and it gets serious hot under the bonnet. I've wrapped my downpipe but the dbilas cast manifold is exposed.

It won't fit over the dbilas. You can make it fit with some extensive fettling though.

mine fell off about a year ago when i did the pre-cat, maybe i should think about getting a new one?
might just wait til i get a new manifold and wrap it!
