larrysSRI Hi guys. Just a quick query, when i start my 2.0t there is a rattle that sounds metalic coming from the rocker cover area. Mostly it goes within a few seconds but sometimes it can last for longer. Ive been told its probably the tensioner as the car runs fine with no problems apart from a whinning alternator.
vocky please get the timing chain inspected asap, the cold start rattle is the first sign the chain is about to give up 🙁 but your alternator could be the cause, try removing the drive belt and see what happens
Mark_Dj I have the same engine as you, I also have a whinning alternator. Seems common on this kind of car, sounds like something needs oiled up when you start the car up :roll:
