This is something I will never try but for some reason it popped into my head today. In theory............ at full throttle if I let more measured air (taken from after the MAF) into the Manifold via the now redundant EGR port in the manifold world it work/go into limp. So, a take off just behind the MAF plugged directly into the Manifold via some sort off butterfly valve that opens at full throttle (pedal switch presumably). With the pedal at the floor air would pass through the TB and EGR port but at anything else the TB would only operate. :wtf: I know what your thinking :shock: :lol: it sounds like some random post from some chav who's just got himself his first proper car but its just a theoretical question.

I would think that it would see it as a leak in the manifold but like you say if its at WOT it might not dunno..

You do run the risk of running lean tho, without a wideband gauge its a complete guess.

It was just a thought as the 2.0 SC TB works fine and if it only opened at full throttle would it not do the same in essence?

No because it would be drawn in after the maf and not seen to correct the fuel.

any air leak after the throttle body would cause it to feel more sluggish on acceleration, hunt at idle momentarily whilst the ecu adjusts the throttle position

and feck up the AFR

i think the z22se does suffer from minor air leaks based on the fact everything is plastic, i.e evap valve connection, brake booster connection, egr valve seal

the ecu just adjusts the throttle position to correct idle speed
