Bad idle and cutting out

Hey guys. newbie on this site, i same problem as a few other people on here but starting to get to the point of setting fire to my car. its a 2002 2.2 astra convertible z22se

started a couple of weeks ago, when stopping at junction the idle would go up and down then stay down and cut out.

I've changed the plugs,airfilter,fuel filter, tried another coil pack, cleaned the throttle body and breather pipes and still no joy.

please help

When you say have a look, what am i looking for?, wouldnt i get some kind of warning light ??

does it run ok when driving it, is it fueling ok as well. Have a look at your lambda to see if its wearing or damage, i had similar problem on idle with a vectra i had, replaced my lambda and was fine after, but yours could be something totally different, also just check your air flow for leaks, you possibly got air leaking out.

been out in the car tonight and the engine management light came on and the car started to misfire, when i got out the car it sounded as though the exhaust had blown on tickover but when you rev'd it, it still sounded as though it was still ticking over with a blown exhaust and a bad smell of eggs, so could it be the cat????

after an hour or so standing i drove the car home with no problems, but eml is still on

smell of eggs could be due to a misfire and it is killing the cat
