with the head off it's quite easy to see if they are bent, usually just the exhaust go
I had a head the other week where a couple of inlet valves were bent to, I suspect the conrod or big end bearings went on the engine it came off as all four valves were bent on one cylinder.
I found out when trying to lap the valves in, instead of spinning they just dug in and wouldn't turn, to the eye they looked fine, but a close inspection showed they were very slightly bent :thumbdown:
