try another coilpack and check the chain has not snapped

So in summary -

You know
You have continuity between ECU pin and cranks sensor
Crank sensor is getting voltage and reacting when metal passed over
Crank sensor is not open circuit

You think
Fuel is being provided at correct pressure (need to test using inline manometer to ensure 3.8bar)
ECU is not picking up RPM pulse

Have you considered
Spark plugs/coil
Valve timing
Compression test
Fuel pump relay actuation via OPCOM

If you can turn 'you think' and 'have you considered' into 'you knows' then it does not leave much option 😉

i will test the fuel pressure

in the meantime i changed the folowing:
ECU- preprogramed to my car from WWW.ECU-EXPRESS.CO.UK
crankshaft sensor - new
checked the wireing from the sensor to the ECU

and still with OP-COM when i crank the motor the rpm shows only 0rpm.

checked the coilpack at it gets power

as for valve timing and compression test it isn't necessary because the car was working fine before the the engine cap gasket was changed. no other part of the engine was removed...or messed up with.

As you have tested everything that has been asked from fuel control through to sensor output and tested the functionality of the other components - I'm at a loss on what it can be dunno..

have you refitted the cam cover earth strap, also the black capacitor should be connected to the loom and the head

I would also get a spark plug lead, remove the spark plug extension and test the coil pack is firing with a spark plug

could you please give me a photo with the location of the capacitor and the earth strap...so i can tell the guys from the garage to check them tomorrow. i will also check the coil pack tomorrow...but will the coilpack be giving any spark if the engine RPM is not detected? doesen't the crankshaft sensor tell the ECU when to give the sparks?...so if no RPM, ECU send no spark command to the coilpack. am i right? or the coil pack should give sparks while cranking even if the crankshaft sensor is not working..?

the spark will come off the crank sensor

if the ECU is not picking up signals from the crank then it will not send a signal to the coil pack to spark

same as the fuel pump relay for the fuel pump

the fuel lines will prime with the ignition on but that will be as far as it goes

on most vxhall ecu's they give the p03500 code or whatever it is with ignition on as the car is not running, for example x20xev, x18xe, c20xe all show that code doing pin trick with ignition on

Disconnect wiring harness connector from: A4 Control Unit - Multec (Wiring Harness Connector X78 ) Ignition ON

Measure voltage between the following terminals:
A4 Control Unit - Multec Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1 (X78) & Ground

less than 0.3 V

Ignition OFF
Measure resistance between the following terminals: A4 Control Unit - Multec Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1 (X78) & Ground

greater than 500 kOhm

Measure resistance between the following terminals:
A4 Control Unit - Multec Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2 (X78)
&
A4 Control Unit - Multec Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1 (X78)

0.5 ... 2.5 kOhm

Engine starting
Switch multimeter to alternating-current voltage measurement.
Measure voltage between the following terminals:
A4 Control Unit - Multec Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2 (X78)
&
A4 Control Unit - Multec Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1 (X78)
greater than 0.8 V

Defective component:
A4 Control Unit - Multec

Important:

Reset concerned control unit (engine or immobiliser control unit) with diagnostic tester before replacing. Select immobiliser in the diagnostic tester and call up the corresponding test in the menu ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS. Ensure that both control units are never reset and replaced at the same time.

here is a wiring diagram for the terminal connections on ECU

terminal 2 is brown

terminal 1 is brown / green

managed to start the car cheers..

you won;t believe what the problem was...
the guys that owned the car before me had messed up with the ECU's connector. and it had 2 female pins from the wiring changed . and inside the connector(car wiring side) exactly the pins nr 1 and 2 that were from the RPM sensor were shorted. but in what way..i measured them 10 times and not even once did they show like shorted...but when the connector was fitted on the ecu the pins touched and that was the problem. changed the connector and the car worked like a charm!

now i have another problem...esp light comes on and i get an error while driving. accelerator position sensor 1.
this sensor is connected to ECU's connector Nr1 so it's not the connector that had problems. but i inspected thes connector too, no loose pins or something like that. also cleaned the pins from the connector from accelerator peddal, the 6 pin connector. it's strange it only comes on after starting the car in 0-3 min. i saw that if it does not appear in 3 min it' won't appear after.
any ideea?

could be a simple air leak- i would start there

air leak...what does this have to do with the acceleration sensor?...?

your getting Tc light with throttle position fault

common problem on z22se engine was air leak

but considering your wiring loom has been bodged up then maybe it might have something to do with that

i haven't yet come across an pedal switch fault or crank sensor fault since being on these forums
