Coolant Temperature Sensor - Reading Output

Wondering how this may be happening - hope someone might be able to shine some light on it.

Engine temperature displayed in the dash is always around 84-85deg C
Hook up a diagnostic and it displays coolant at 93deg C

No problems with the car just wondering how comes?

resistance on wiring loom perhaps ?

2 sensors within the CTS

1 for ECM the other for dash

however i know on vectra b's the instrument panel gauges are inaccurate and do get stuck

the temp gauge on my vectra B rarely gets above 80c and that has had a new sensor, stat - the heater is boiling though

Ah yes Mike, that sounds logical. I've ran an actuation test on the fuel gauge and mechanically works and reports correct position so must be down to resistance
