Wrong coolant?!

Hi everyone.

Bit worried having read up on using the wrong coolant in these z22se engines. I've read up that you're supposed to use a special coolant for the aluminum engines, apparently it's a pink colour. I picked up my car around Easter weekend, so a few weeks back. The owner told me he had just changed the coolant before I collected it. I checked the coolant yesterday and noticed it is a blue/green colour. I have read up this eats the aluminum in the block?! Should I change this sharpish? Really worried damage may be done if this is the case 🙁

Replace it as soon as convenient - do a full flush also and ensure that your coolant ends up a 50:50 (remember there will be a proportion of flushed water left in the car at 0:100. 50:50 equates to -34deg C

Drain at coolant pump and bottom of radiator

Your engine is not going to die because of it 🙂

Thanks for that mate, much appreciated. I will book it into Vaux to do it. The coolant in there now is Unipart brand. On closer inspection it's just green in colour. Thanks for putting mind at rest.

Dont worry about it.

I heard the same but found out that pink and blue are both ok to use, pink has an extended life over blue, somthing like that.

Thanks for the response guy's, put my mind at rest. Still thinking of giving it a full flush though and using Vauxhall coolant. Is there a definitive guide / write up on how to do this without causing any problems? Think I will give it a go this coming weekend.
