Different engine sound

Hi everyone,

I found a thread recently about the question i'm going to ask, problem is i've searched for it and can't find it now! Is it me or does the Z22SE sound unique? The one I have sounds completely different to any car I have owned. It almost sounds like it's supercharged, has a whiring noise under acceleration. Does everybody else's do this?

gearbox seems spot on mate, no problems with it. It only makes this sound under full throttle i think above 4000 rpm. Engine is otherwise smooth and quiet. No knocks or rattles even when cold it seems smooth and quiet.

Air filter changed, throttle body ported or three pipe mod or similar as in induction roar?

The car is completely standard, been listening to it today, is an odd noise, nothing too loud just changes note around 4000-4500k. I have heard this could be down to the car being chain driven or due to it being an aluminum block. To be honest I can't make up my mind of the sound, it sounds a bit tinny?

Thats where i like to keep it 3500 to 4000rpm with decent economy.
Only tin sound was when pre cat removed some years ago and throughout rev range.

There is a note change above 3500 probably 4k better heard when under load so let it go up the motorway. May be hydraulic lifters or chain, try 0W/30W oil i am currently on 0W/40W and is more pronounced whereas before it wasnt?
