hi all just recently ive had a problem with poor idle and poor fuel consuption all mixed together with lack of power,what route should i be taking to fix im thinking of getting some new spark plugs,coolant temp sensor and position 1and 2 lambdas i really hate my car at the moment and need advice ive also cleaned the throttle body and blanked the working egr its not long had a service filters seem in good condition as the car has full vx service history,also just had a new standard downpipe and centre exhaust fitted

Bit more info about your car, age, service history...

Step 1 - diagnostic to find out what is running out of parameters
Step 2 - fix whats running out of parameters

i found it very useful along with vauxcheck for the z22se engine

certainly the cts and upper lambda sensor would be the first things to check for poor mpg

those are my first port of call vocky im gonna be replacing both pos 1 and 2 lambdas as i had an exhaust fitted by nation wide and the idiot messed it up pos 2 lambda is cross threaded and in the downpipe at an angle instead of straight but not blowing would a faulty lambda throw up the emissions light,also now you say cts i have noticed that it uses most fuel when getting up to running temp(i know an engine would use more fuel from cold)but it drops quicker than i can count on the trip computer

coolant temp sensor (cts) is cheap, so well worth doing first :thumbup:

CTS would throw a P0117 if failure reported over 142 deg C and P0118 if under -71 deg C. Nominal voltages for CTS circuit should be 4.8 - 5.2v. Hook up to a diagnostic and read the engine temp - if > 4.8v and < than 5.2v and greater than -40 deg C then its functioning correctly
